Hey Everyone!

I know its been a while because I am rather terrible with updating my website(s), but I figured I'd give anyone interested an update on my life and my artsy goings-on.

I am officially in my second semester as a Costume Designer at the University of Illinois, and I LOVE IT. This is such a great program for effective theatrical design training and fostering creativity. I have not been able to take any official design classes yet, but I did participate in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) early last month and was able to fully design a show and get critiqued on my designs. I got really good feedback, even though I didn't move on to any final rounds or get any recognition for it. I will scan and upload those designs sometime soon.
In the meantime, I am working in my school's costume shop regularly and working as Wardrobe Head for a show called the Last Days of Judas Iscariot. The show is absolutely excellent, but extremely long (both the actual show time and the length of the entire run) and so currently I have little time for anything but class, work, and sleep. Next semester, however, I may get the opportunity (finally) to assist a designer on one of our shows. I'm hoping to help on Dracula, but that's all still undecided.

Aside from school, I have taken on several commissioned projects for cosplay outfits, which I will post pictures of whenever they are finished and I actually remember to do so, so keep an eye out for those! They should be super fun. :)

Finally: In a new collaborative project, me and several of my friends may be starting an Etsy account, selling several different fun odds and ends that we made for some extra cash. When that site is up and running, I will post that link so y'all can take a look (and buy things?!).

Thanks everyone for the continued support!
Update again soon!

Love, Heather

I like very much your work and selection.
Just discovered Wiccan: how do you think it has influenced or will influence your artwork?

thank you! i really appreciate your interest.
And my newfound spirituality actually already has affected some of my work--i tend towards sustainability in materials i choose to create on/with, and my subject matter is starting to shift--though i'm not quite sure to where yet. why do you ask?

Thank you very much for your candid answer. i have just discovered your artwork and could see the evolution through time. Your journal and your favorites told me that you were aiming at something much more "powerful".
So, i wondered if it was the influence of wiccan (which i don't really know, but would be curious to know then) or of your own personality.
I am interested by symbolism and its impact in communication.
With regard to your artwork, sustainability has to do with the textiles... or am i missing something?

Note that i travel without access to internet the next 3 days... back to real world next saturday.

most of my work's evolution came from my personality changing over time. Keep in mind much of my work is posted after a VERY long time, (as in, i create something and then dont actually post it until several months to several years later) and so to judge it as a sort of timeline is to judge my past self over time. also keep in mind that i create much, much more than is just listed here, but much of it is either too personal or too rough or too undeveloped for me to choose to post it. though i will point out that because of my recent change in subject matter (basically symbolistic sculpture and traditional 2D art to costume design), it has become somewhat difficult to express personal ideals through my work when the whole point of costume design is to express someone else's ideals. i may have to work on that.

another note, however, is that my recent discovery of Wicca is not necessarily a huge changing factor in my life, but more an extension of it. I chose Wicca because it fits ME. I did not choose it and then bend to its ideals. that's actually a lot of the point of Wicca.

also, i really appreciate your interest.
