I know its been a while because I am rather terrible with updating my website(s), but I figured I'd give anyone interested an update on my life and my artsy goings-on.
I am officially in my second semester as a Costume Designer at the University of Illinois, and I LOVE IT. This is such a great program for effective theatrical design training and fostering creativity. I have not been able to take any official design classes yet, but I did participate in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) early last month and was able to fully design a show and get critiqued on my designs. I got really good feedback, even though I didn't move on to any final rounds or get any recognition for it. I will scan and upload those designs sometime soon.
In the meantime, I am working in my school's costume shop regularly and working as Wardrobe Head for a show called the Last Days of Judas Iscariot. The show is absolutely excellent, but extremely long (both the actual show time and the length of the entire run) and so currently I have little time for anything but class, work, and sleep. Next semester, however, I may get the opportunity (finally) to assist a designer on one of our shows. I'm hoping to help on Dracula, but that's all still undecided.
Aside from school, I have taken on several commissioned projects for cosplay outfits, which I will post pictures of whenever they are finished and I actually remember to do so, so keep an eye out for those! They should be super fun.
Finally: In a new collaborative project, me and several of my friends may be starting an Etsy account, selling several different fun odds and ends that we made for some extra cash. When that site is up and running, I will post that link so y'all can take a look (and buy things?!).
Thanks everyone for the continued support!
Update again soon!
Love, Heather
